An exciting new restaurant is currently making its way to Alphabet City from one of New York’s best chefs.
Paul Gerard is an executive chef, content creator, and designer who fuses his effective leadership skills with an extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry and business management. As a full service creative consultant, Paul has spent years of his life helping restaurants develop new concepts, business plans, menus, strategies for kitchen efficiency, and even social media marketing tactics.
Paul has been working in New York restaurants since he was 13. When he moved to new Orleans at the age of 21, he discovered an entirely new perspective on food an hospitality, and spent the decade sharply honing his craft. As the central concept creator and interior designer at Ethyl’s Alcohol and Food, Paul fused his love of artistry and creativity with haute cuisine by creating an innovative bar and performance space that just happened to serve some of the best food in the neighborhood.
Now, a recent liquor license application with the state of New York reveals Paul’s intention to open a brand new concept bar at 14 Avenue C. While the project has yet to be named, Paul describes the idea as a “bar with a cultural focus – art, poetry, spoken word, and book releases.” Given Paul’s interest in literature, art, and theatre, it’s safe to say that his latest project will bring neighborhood artists together in a new hang-out spot that will be meticulously designed by Chef Gerard himself.
The new bar will be replacing C Lounge, a neighborhood restaurant and hookah lounge that closed during the pandemic. As Paul is still very early into the application process, he has yet to share further details about his vision.
