Brooklyn Fare Kitchen & Market is the latest tenant to arrive at One Manhattan Square, and developers are excited about what this might mean for the future of developments in the neighborhood. While the building is beautiful, featuring 100,000 square feet of resident amenities with one-of-a-kind river views, the local economy has presented a serious challenge that has only been exacerbated by the recent pandemic. Since marketing began six years ago, One Manhattan Square has yet to sell its 814 units even in light of recent price cuts. Developers are hoping that news of Brooklyn Fare’s acquisition will kickstart the process and encourage others to come on board.

Brooklyn Fare was founded over a decade ago by grocer Moe Issa. The trendy grocery store was known for sourcing premium ingredients and offering them at a fair price, and their positive reputation enabled them to expand further into Manhattan. Beyond the store though, Brooklyn Fare is famous for hosting the legendary Chef’s Table restaurant – one of the few three-Michelin-starred restaurants left in Manhattan (specifically one of five).

Chef’s Table is operated by star chef Cesar Ramirez, one of the most important chefs working in the city today. Chef’s Table is responsible for putting Brooklyn Fare on the map, though nobody has been able to confirm whether the new Brooklyn Fare will be bringing another restaurant along with it.

The new project is expected to be Brooklyn Fare’s most ambitious expansion yet. Their largest location to date, the new location boasts an all-glass storefront, 20-foot ceilings, and will feature a total of 25,500 square feet of space. Replacing the Pathmark that previously occupied the space, Brooklyn Fare’s official address at One Manhattan Square will be 227 Cherry Street and is expected open sometime in mid-2022.
