Caribea is a new restaurant concept from owner Billy Figaro. The concept is envisioned as a fast-casual Caribbean restaurant that will highlight dishes from all of the islands of the Caribbean and will offer a unique assortment of different bowls, sandwiches, small and large plates, desserts, beverages, and so much more.

Caribea is currently scheduled to open up at 203 Allen Street, between East Houston Street and Stanton Street, replacing a Dominos Pizza that formerly occupied the space. As a fast-casual restaurant, the space will feature one point of service counter in the front where guests can quickly order their meals, and a total of 28 seats for guests inside. The basement level will be reserved for storage purposes, and there are no plans at this time to add an additional sidewalk cafe.

Excitingly, Billy has provided a sample menu to provide curious readers with an idea of what to expect. To start, Caribea will serve an assortment of different Caribbean-inspired appetizers like Jamaican patties, guava barbecue wings, crispy coconut shrimp, and curried chickpea and plantain accra. For the main dishes, guests will be invited to create their own sandwich or bowl, building from protein bases like Caribea pulled pork, curried chicken, jerk chicken, blackened snapper, and crispy coconut shrimp. Guests can also add vegetables and other toppings like callaloo, stwed okra, grilled corn with lime, and Caribea slaw.

Additionally, Billy is looking to acquire a new liquor license for the space in order to provide his guests with beer and cocktails like margaritas and a rum punch. He is currently proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM 10:00 PM from Sunday through Wednesday, and 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM from Thursday through Saturday (though the restaurant will still be closed for dining after 10:00 PM). Unfortunately, Billy is still a ways off from announcing his grand opening and debuting the proper social media channels, but once his website is live we will be sure to update you accordingly.
