An exciting new bar and grill is getting ready to open up later this year in northern Kips Bay.
Burke & Burke is a brand new restaurant that is scheduled to arrive at 560 3rd Avenue. Founded by restaurateurs Terrence Flynn and Anthony Cullinan, Burke and Burke is described as an American Bar and Grill that will serve new American classics like burgers, fries, and sandwiches, alongside a robust selection of beer, wine, and liquor.
Prior to opening Burke & Burke, the two previously operated Barnacho together. Barnacho is a popular NY-based Tex-Mex bar and lounge that focuses on margaritas and cocktails. Offering an upscale take on street tacos and enchiladas, Bar Nacho has quickly become a favorite haunt of the neighborhood and currently operates two locations in the city.
Now, Terrence and Anthony are getting ready to debut their newest concept. Pivoting from elevated Mexican street food to a traditional American bar, Burke & Burke will be replacing Duke’s, a southern-influenced pub known for serving tall pitchers of beer and cultivating a party atmosphere. Primarily a sports bar, Duke’s shut down last year in response to the pandemic and the location has remained vacant ever since. The space is relatively large for the neighborhood though, and is capable of hosting up to 90 diners at one time. Burke & Burke will also feature an outdoor dining space that will seat an additional 10-12 diners, though the outdoor space will not occupy the sidewalk or roadway.
At the moment, Flynn and Cullinan are currently in the process of acquiring a new liquor license for the space. They are proposing operating hours of 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM every day. Unfortunately, Flynn and Cullinan could not be reached for further information about their schedule for opening, but we will be sure to update the story accordingly should further details break.
